FECHA
Saint Of The Day:

Take Our Daughters to Work Day.

Today is Take Our Daughters to Work Day. This is the result of a national education campaign sponsored by the Ms. Foundation for Women in which girls aged 9-15 go to work with adult hosts -- parents, grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends. The day is designed to focus on the neglected needs of girls, an attempt to get adults to take actions that will help change the notion that "boys work, girls stay home and cook." Take a young woman to work and she will see, these days, that there are lots of women in the workplace, and that they are often in positions of top responsibility. That will tell them, first hand, where they can see for themselves that young women can aspire to anything. They can be doctors as well as nurses, dentists as well as dental hygienists, lawyers as well as legal secretaries, editors as well as reporters.

Your Birthday Today:

April 24
Day of the Recorder Taurus

Pros
Nurturing, Protective, Vivid

Cons
Suffocating, Moody, Conceited

Chronicler. If you were born on April 24, you like to record your impressions in writing or speech to let others know what you think. This is usually done to protect and direct your loved ones. Ruled by the number 6 and the planet Venus, you are highly influenced by love and beauty.

Controlling. Both sexes born on this day are fine nurturers and parents, supporting and encouraging children as they grow. You like children and other loved ones to follow your direction and can get very upset and depressed when it doesn't happen. As a child yourself, you were very loving and gracious, only rebelling when treated unfairly or brutally.

Things fall apart. You try to keep a stable family and personal life, but keep getting disappointed in love affairs and rocky marriages. You may end up a single parent, focused on your child after giving up on dating. You're not worried what people may think, you just want to care for your family and career.

Career is very important. But it may cause conflicts with the family. When asked to choose between them, you may not be able to decide. Some April 24 people avoid this conflict by not having a family at all and turning their nurturing urges toward business comrades and groups. You may join forces with or work under a powerful person, acting as protector and confidante.

Some advice: Let others make their own mistakes sometimes. You don't need to comment on everything. Learn to exercise self-control.

Also born on this day: Barbara Streisand (singer, songwriter, actor, director) Shirley MacLaine (actress, dancer, writer) Robert Penn Warren (novelist) Joe Henderson (jazz saxophonist) Johnny Griffin (jazz saxophonist) Karl Rothschild (financier) John Williams (classical guitarist) Stanley Kauffman (professor, philosopher) Jill Ireland (actress) Richard M. Daley, Jr. (Chicago mayor) Willem de Kooning (Dutch-American painter)
